The “Santa Fe Look” is based of old Navajo Women who were held hostage at various forts on the Navajo reservation. They copied the soldiers wives’ clothing cuts but added their own colors and adaptions (turquoise, silver, etc). I should know, my own grandmother who still had the certification of Indian blood tattoo on her arm as a little girl was held along with her family would tell me various stories of her youth.
